During the off season (July of 1998) Rob was traded here in a multi player deal from the Peoria Rivermen where he played a limited schedule during the 1997-98 season. Before that he played in the juniors for the Peterborough Petes of the East Division of the OHL.
This year our adopted player came with an extra package. He brought along his girlfriend, Tracy (kind of like a 2 for 1 deal for us). Both are a lot of fun, alone or as a package deal. They both come from the Toronto, Canada area, but spent last season in Peoria, IL.
During Rob's journey through the Juniors playing for the Peterborough Petes, he did make it to the '96 Memorial Cup where they lost in the fog delayed final to the Granby Predateurs. The Petes were not given much credit that season, but proved their incredible grit when they beat the Guelph Storm in a seven-game OHL final and then kept delivering upsets to advance to the Memorial Cup final. Rob finished that season with his personal best of 88 points in 66 games.
There will be more photos to come in the future. I've been a little behind in my scanning. One of interest will be his player card from the '96 season.
